Boobs and the President

I canNOT believe how much time I spent looking at Jessica from Feministing's breasts today. Ann Althouse mocked Jessica for posing in front of the former president with her boobs pointing out. I can't even remember where I read it first, but here are some links: Ogged, Althouse, Jessica, It's vaguely amusing that every time we see Clinton, we think blue dress and cigars. But let's leave Jessica out of it.

Thanks to Ogged's link to this close up picture, I can see that Jessica is wearing the Gap capped sleeve sweater than I own in black and in white. My mother gave them to me as a birthday present. In fact, I wore the white one to church on Sunday with jeans and heels. I'm not saying that I filled out the sweater as nicely as Jessica, but I think that if that sweater is okay for my mom, Father Joe, and God, it should be okay to wear to a blogger meetup.

It's funny you should mention wearing that shirt to church.

I grew up Catholic. And I always had the impression that the reason women were not allowed to be priests -- which means they are not part of the leadership of the church -- was because they have breasts.

I mean, what if a priest got up to give a sermon and she looked like Jessica? Oh, the scandal that would ensue.

Women can have breasts when they are on the cover of porn magazines or when they are starring in some kind of conventional romantic comedy. Breasts are fine as long as the women is in her proper role as sex object.

Women appearing in public in the arena of politics -- posing with a former President -- are not allowed to have breasts.

So if you are a woman, and you have breasts, you need to stay out of religion and politics. You don't belong there. Really, it's quite simple.

If the sweater had been black instead of light-colored, the camera flash wouldn't have highlighted her shape. The blonde woman standing two people over is wearing an outfit that actually shows some cleavage, but no one commented on that. The red-haired woman standing next to Jessica is actually plenty busty as well, but she's zaftig, so she doesn't count, plus it's harder to see because she's dressed in dark clothing. Gah. I hate this crap. Why would anyone think that this has any importance in the world?
