Spreadin' Love

In one episode of Sex and The City, Carrie sees a great pair of shoes in the store window and softly calls, "Hello, Lover." I, too, know the siren call of a nice pair of shoes. So, does Dooce. I really do covet those shoes very badly.

Harry points me to a post by Jason Stanley who writes that academics used to be more involved in their community than they are today. Jason, like myself, is a second generation academic. My comment.

How do you define "academic"? Is anyone who received a PhD an academic, regardless of occupation?
